TSS & Clarification

Water clarification is the process of removing suspended solids (TSS) from water. The clarification process may be used to remove the following:

TSS Color Hardness
Alkalinity Iron Manganese
Silica Aluminum TDS
Taste Odor Dissolved Gases

FAQ

Q. What if I am not meeting my discharge limitations with my basic clarification equipment?
A. Testing different coagulants and flocculants may improve the efficiency of clarification and also even reduce sludge volumes. Many traditional coagulants like alum, ferric chloride contribute many solids to the water and demand more lime to neutralize the pH-hence more sludge.

Q. If different chemical programs work in a jar test, why won't they work during a trial?
A. It is always best to follow 'Best Practices" when feeding coagulants and flocculants. The coagulants are typically fed upstream with fast mixing and greater retention time. Flocculants are typically fed (highly diluted) into a slow mix chamber. Call us to help optimize your chemical trial.
