Organic Chemistry

Also see coagulants and flocculants. Organic chemicals typically work at lower dosage with less effect on water pH. They work at a very broad pH range (2 – 10) and usually contribute less solids than inorganic coagulants.

Some organics are cross-linked to make shear-resistant chemicals that have more stable floc formation.

Organics typically have good emulsion breaking (oily waste), sludge thickening properties and are excellent at low dosages prior to a sand or multimedia filter.
