Inorganic Chemistry
See also coagulants and flocculants. Inorganic coagulants work over a broad pH range but typically better on the acidic side. Most inorganic coagulants are acids. Sodium aluminate is an exception that is an alkaline chemical.
Inorganics typically contribute more solids, and hence sludge, to the system. Certain inorganic coagulants, and blends of inorganic/organic coagulants also have emulsion breaking properties for oily waste.
